MARBELLA EASTER PROCESSIONS
This is the Marbella Easter Processions Schedule organized by Marbella Town Hall for Marbella. The city of Marbella also organises processions in the communities of San Pedro de Alcantara and Nueva Andalucia as well.
This year, Semana Santa is celebrated 20-27 March 2016.
Marbella Easter Parades are held all throughout the week and consist of "tronos" (thrones that are as big as floats) which can weigh more than 5,000 kilos. The ornately carved thrones are hundreds of years old (some dating to the 17th century) and are carried by members of the local brotherhood, which is witnessed by thousands of people who come to see and applaud their favorite thrones.
