MARBELLA GASTRONOMY

Marbella offers an exquisite gastronomy that represents the Mediterranean, that goes from light dishes where it’s worth mentioning the salads and the olive oils, to the most typical dishes in Malaga without forgetting, of course, the sea food.

In Marbella we’ll find top quality wines like Rioja or Ribera del Duero. If as well as a good wine, you also want a romantic dinner, Puerto Banus hosts a wide vide variety of restaurants and places where to enjoy a cocktail or a mixed drink after dinner.

If you like listening to music during dinner you must go to “La Plaza” where you’ll enjoy an exquisite Mediterranean meal accompanied by a flamenco show. There are also other places like “El Patio de los Perfumes”, situated in the old quarter of Marbella, where we can also enjoy a flamenco dance show while we eat.

Gastronomy in Marbella
Marbella is a municipality by the sea and also by the mountain, which is why it bases its gastronomy in fish and mountain products. Typical dishes like ‘gazpacho’ and ‘ajoblanco’ are a must in a Marbella kitchen, specially during the hot days of summer, or if on the other hand we visit Marbella during the winter, we can enjoy an exquisite ‘sopa campera’ (countryside soup).

Recipe of the 'Sopa Campera'

Its main ingredients are tomatoes, onions, garlic, peppers, green asparagus, stale bread, and sometimes seafood can also be added, depending on the chef as well as the taste of each person.

Malaga style Salad

A light salad of potatoes and olive oil, that also has tomatoes, peppers, onions and either tuna or cod (the original is with cod).

Salmorejo

Also known as ‘Porra Antequerana’, it’s a thick creamy soup similar to gazpacho made mainly with tomatoes, stale bread, garlic, olive oil, hardboiled egg, serrano (parma) ham, peppers and onions, a healthy delight that’s very recommendable.

Cold soups

Both, the Gazpacho, which is a typical Andalusian product, and the Ajoblanco, are two cold soups that you must try if you visit southern Spain. Made with natural products like the Salmorejo, the Gazpacho, without being as thick, is a very healthy cold soup to have at any time of the day, even as a refreshing drink
