GERMANS IN MARBELLA

It’s the awakening of the Costa del Sol’s oldest friend.  In 2015 there was an increase of 15.2% of Germans staying in hotels and 10.8% in arrivals at Malaga airport. The president of Tourism of the Costa del Sol, Elias Bendodo, wants to consolidate this increase and bring even more. In fact he has already contemplated an overall increase of 10% for the first quarter of 2016, bringing the headcount to 182,000 travelers. Bendodo’s strategy relies on two pillars of success: improving air connectivity between Germany and the Costa del Sol and advertising his region as a destination that can be enjoyed 365 days a year. His plan is to discuss the restructuring of Ryanair’s, Germania’s and Air Berlin’s operations in the Costa del Sol and show that his region is not only about beaches but also about beautiful golfs. This increase in German tourists will ultimately lead to more people staying in hotels and holiday rental properties therefore increasing the attractiveness of properties in Marbella, Nueva Andalucia and Puerto Banus.
